Subaru Australia has recalled 3796 examples of its 2020-2021 Subaru Outback large SUV, citing a software fault.
The affected vehicles are stamped Model Years 2020 and 2021.
The recall notice, lodged with the Department of Infrastructure, says: “Due to the incorrect software logic being installed on the Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) the post collision brake control function may not operate as intended and fail to apply the brakes automatically after a collision.
“Failing to apply the brake automatically after a collision may lead to a second accident causing injury or death of vehicle occupants and/or other road users.”

A spokesperson for the marque in Australia told Drive: “There have been no reported incidents locally.”
