Inspired by the title of a great 1970 proto-punk song, I created the Down On the Street series at Jalopnik way back in 2007. Last year, I revived DOTS right here at Autoweek and with the locale switched from California to Colorado, with a rare Chevy coupe to kick things off. Now I’ve spotted another classic Chevrolet in the same neighborhood near downtown Denver, and… well, just look at it!

What we’ve got here is a 1971 Chevrolet half-ton Cheyenne Super Fleetside pickup with plenty of rust, even more character, and a 350-cubic-inch small-block V8 (or at least the badges for that engine).

At some point many years ago, this truck got a vivid pink-and-white paint job suggesting the scallops of the 1956-1962 Corvette.

The pink hue has faded in the Colorado sun to more of a pastel salmon, but it must have been eye-searing a decade or three back.

Some folks seem to believe that the Trilateral Commission will ship car owners off to the Venusian Gulag if their license plates are visible in photographs, so I have removed the lettering on the personalized plates in these images. Which is a shame, because this truck has a woman’s name (presumably inspired by a legendary American musician) and it’s on the plates.
