Aventador SVJ owners may have a difficult time getting out of their car thanks to a faulty door handle.
I’m sure this article will directly concern so many of you reading it. I mean, who among you didn’t immediately trade in your boring old Aventador when the new SVJ model came along with its Aerodinamica Lamborghini Attiva (ALA) active aerodynamic system? I mean, not owning the vehicle that holds the Nürburgring production car lap record. It’s like not owning the latest iPhone, am I right?
Okay, reality check, most of us cannot and will never be able to afford a Lamborghini Aventador SVJ. But maybe we can share some small comfort in learning that some Lamborghini Aventador SVJ owners may get stuck inside their new prized hypercars.
On March 18, a recall was issued on 26 of the 2020 Aventador SVJ Coupes and Roadsters, which apparently suffer from a premature interior door handle failure. The exterior door handles and windows? Oh, those work fine. It’s only the interior handles which create an “entrapment risk” for owners.
Getting out of a Lamborghini at the best of times makes you look distressingly undignified. Just imagine if you couldn’t get the door open.
Motor1 seems to have identified the problem by scanning the NHTSA filings. Apparently it was the new guy’s fault. Lamborghini says the problem originated from an improperly trained factory worker. “During the assembly a non properly trained new operator may have not correctly engaged the bowden cable pin inside the internal door handles,” says Lamborghini.
If by some chance you actually did buy an Aventador SVJ which was built between December 3, 2019 and January 22, 2020, apparently the new guy’s training period, Lamborghini will be contacting you to replace the faulty parts.
