Looks like Ora’s inspiration doesn’t just stop at the Volkswagen Beetle, the recently spied production version of the Ora Lightning Cat also had us doing a double-take to make sure that we were not actually looking at a Porsche Panamera instead.
In case you missed it, Ora is an electric vehicle (EV) brand under Great Wall Motors (GWM) that focuses on producing cars that will appeal to women, hence the cat-themed names.
The brand is already well known for the adorable Ora Good Cat, which many were quick to point out the very Porsche-esque front end.
But looks like they’re not done drawing inspiration from the Porsche brand yet as the production version of the Ora Lightning Cat was spotted testing and fans cannot help noticing the similarities of the car with the Porsche Panamera.
The production version Ora Lightning Cat features a front end similar to the popular Good Cat, however, while the Good Cat is a hatchback, the Lightning Cat’s rear end protrudes out very much like the Panamera.
To make the car look slightly less like a Panamera, Ora added chrome bits along the side and the rear end as well as around the tail-lights for a more retro look. Ora also added wider rear fenders in an effort to look different.
The spy shots also revealed the car’s interior. From what we can see, the interior looks less like a Panamera, although we can’t help but think ‘Mercedes-AMG GT’ when we look at the three dials running down the centre console leading to a single cup holder.
Measuring 4,871 x 1,862 x 1,500 mm in length, width, and height with a wheelbase of 2,870 mm, the Lightning Cat might look like the Panamera, but it doesn’t have the size as the Panamera measures over 5 metres.
For context:
Ora Lightning Cat dimensions | |||

Slated to officially launch at the Beijing Auto Show next month, the Chinese press is expecting the Ora Lightning Cat to have a starting price of around RMB 200,000 (~RM 133,000).
For now, only one powertrain detail has been revealed: The Lightning Cat will be powered by a single motor that does 203 PS and has a top speed of 170 km/h. Word is that Ora is working on a more powerful dual-motor variant.
