Formula 1 silly season is upon us with challengers being revealed just about every second or third day. Today however is the turn of the Papaya Orange team, join us for the reveal of the Fearlessly Forward McLaren MCL36 at 19:00 GMT or 21:00 South African time this evening.

The reveal will also include appearances from all-round good guys Daniel Ricciardo and Lando Norris who will be piloting the McLaren MCL36 in the team’s 2022 campaign. Aussie driver Ricciardo has already teased the world with his helmet design in which he says a few words about his sentiments going into this season.

Other important news is that talented, baby-faced 22 year old Lando Norris had his contract extended with the Woking outfit with Team principal Andreas Seidl stating that: “We are still on our journey to fight at the front and Lando is a key element of our plan, so to lock him into place, alongside Daniel and our senior leadership, gives us stability and continuity as we build towards our ultimate shared goal of world championships.”

The Formula 1 cars for the year have already started demonstrating their cosmetic differences in the few teams that have revealed renders, show cars and actual challengers which we are likely to continue to see in the half dozen remaining reveals.
McLaren put in some solid performances with #3 car piloted by Daniel Ricciardo taking overall honours at the Temple of Speed (Monza) in September of last year with Norris losing out on a career first win after the rain came down at the Sochi Autodrom in Russia but their form seemed to dwindle thereafter. They closed the season with 275 points in fourth place, with their chief rivals Ferrari ending the year off without any wins but in third place and 323.5 points.

Pundits speculate that the fighting between Mercedes and Red Bull in 2021 may have compromised the development of their new-generation cars which has afforded teams that have been snapping at their heels an opportunity to catch up. Who knows, this may even be a repeat of the late 90’s and early 2000’s when Ferrari pilot Michael Schumcher battled it out with McLaren driver Mika Häkkinen.
