Porsche has pulled the covers off a special model; the 718 Cayman GT4 RS. Birthed in collaboration with TAG Heuer and Porsche Latin Americato pay homage to the legendary Carrera Panamericana racers of 1953. Only two of these cars have been produced under Porsche’s ‘Sonderwunsch’ program and here are their details.

The design of the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS is inspired by the iconic 550 Coupe race cars that participated in the Carrera Panamericana all those years ago. To signal this, the models bear the racing numbers “152” and “154” on their doors and roofs in a hue of yellow, just like their precedent did. The exterior of the car features a Le Mans Silver Metallic paint, previously seen on the 911 Carrera GTS Le Mans Centenaire Edition, celebrating the 100th anniversary of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
The TAG Heuer logo is prominently displayed on various parts of the car, including the rear wing’s endplates, bonnet, wheel hub covers, and air filter box. Additionally, the Pegasus motif, reminiscent of the Mobil Oil logo and featured on the 550 Spyder, is incorporated into the design.

Inside the cabin, the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Panamericana Special showcases cross-stitching in green, white, and red, representing the Mexican flag. The door sills proudly display “GT4 RS Panamericana Special” lettering, and the headrests feature a vintage racing driver cap design, also found on the valve caps. Notably, the TAG Heuer logo is embossed on the armrest between the seats. The ‘154’ racing number variant comes with an added special touch—a TAG Heuer stopwatch embedded in the centre console.

Robert Ader, Porsche’s head of marketing, emphasized the significance of this collaboration, saying, “With TAG Heuer and Porsche, the Carrera Panamericana brought together two brands that have so much in common: innovation, a passion for racing, and making dreams come true. We want to celebrate our partnership with this pair of one-off cars. It’s also a gift to our many enthusiastic customers in Latin America.”

The ‘154’ Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Panamericana Special was unveiled at Rennsport Reunion 7, while the ‘152’ variant will make its debut at this year’s Carrera Panamericana and will be auctioned off during the event.
In essence, the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS TAG Heuer x Porsche – Legends of Panamericana serves as a testament to the collaborative efforts of Porsche and TAG Heuer, all while paying tribute to the rich racing heritage of the Carrera Panamericana. With the standard Porsche wearing the moniker costing over R3 million, how much do you think these limited editions will sell for?
