The custom Xbox Series X consoles and matching wireless controllers come in vibrant colours based on six historic Porsche motorsport liveries.
Porsche is a very familiar name to fans of both real-world and virtual racing so to mark its 75th anniversary in 2023, Xbox is releasing custom Xbox Series X consoles and matching controllers in vibrant colourways based on six historic Porsche motorsport liveries. This limited-edition collection won’t make it to stores, instead, fans can enter sweepstakes for their chance to win a console and controller inspired by the brand’s storied motorsports history.
Motorsport and car gaming has grown by leaps and bounds with graphics and gameplay at extraordinary new levels and Xbox has worked closely with Porsche since 2005 on co-branded elements for Porsche and the Forza franchise. Beginning with the original Forza Motorsport and continuing through the franchise, including the latest Forza Horizon 5, Porsche vehicles have been a part of the racing line-up available to players.
Porsche’s many racing liveries are now a part of racing lore, and the Xbox 75th Anniversary collection pays homage to six of Porsche’s most unforgettable looks which include:
- 75th Anniversary / Porsche 963 – the current race livery on the 963. This design celebrates some of Porsche’s most famous racing colours in a unified design.
- Salzburg (1970) – gave Porsche its very first overall win at Le Mans.
- “Hippie” (1970) – Porsche Hippie was a race car unlike any other. It was adorned in deep blue and bright green “hippie” colours.
- “Pink Pig” (1971) – Porsche Pink Pig was a pink race car. Covered in butcher-style cuts. It’s a race livery that gained cult status.
- Porsche Racing Edition (1978) – is often referred to as the white whale (or Moby Dick) because of its huge tail.
- 911 GT1 (1998) – won 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1998.
