Hyundai Motor Group continues to shock us by how much effort the company puts into every vehicle design. Not only that, but it is quick to return to the drawing board for facelifts and redesigns. Roughly three years after its introduction, the fourth-generation Kia Sorento is on the cusp of a facelift.
However, this time there’s a big difference. Unlike previous updates where Kia all but completely reinvents the vehicle’s outward appearance, these spy shots show the changes will be minimal. This mostly applies to what can be seen on the Sorento’s largely camouflaged front end.

Visible are vertically oriented headlights much like those found on the Telluride and the upcoming all-electric flagship EV9 SUV. Although it’s difficult to tell, the grille might also resemble the Telluride’s where it does not connect with the headlights as it did on the Sorento from model years 2021 to 2023. Around the back, the taillights seem to hold a similar shape to the current model’s although there’s a small chance they will be connected by a light bar — something not seen on the EV9 or Telluride, but instead found on the Sportage. In all likelihood, we can also expect other cosmetic updates including new bumpers and wheel designs.
It is assumed that the cabin will be on the receiving end of a number of updates as well. Once more using the Telluride and Sportage as examples of what to expect, the new Sorento should gain new displays and a partially decluttered dashboard. Top-line models will undoubtedly be delivered with the curved, large single-piece dual 12.3-inch screens and drop a few physical buttons in the process. The bigger centre display will also play host to the already confirmed Kia Connect. Depending on markets, new features could include cooled second-row seating and tri- or quad-zone climate control, and more.
It’s more than likely that nothing will change under the bonnet. In Canada, the Kia Sorento is offered with no fewer than four powertrains, including two 2.5L mills, with or without turbocharging, and two hybrids, one one being a plug-in hybrid.
The facelifted 2024 Kia Sorento is due to break cover in the second half of 2023.
