Officially, the Mercedes-Benz E-class turns 30 years of age in 2023. For its sixth generation, expected for the 2024 model year, Benz will once more update the popular midsize premium sedan, wagon, and two-door versions. We’ve shared spy shots of all of these, but this new batch of images shows the new car’s interior for the first time.
Straight from Stuttgart, Germany, these images are currently the best ones depicting the E-Class sedan’s overall styling – though, to be honest, there’s nothing revolutionary going on here. Now more than ever, Mercedes-Benz has adopted the one-style-multiple-sizes approach to designing its cars. Essentially, the new E is a shrunken S-Class or a slightly larger C-Class.
The good news is the car’s lines are fluid and luxurious, all at once.

While the sides, bonnet, and trunk lid are clearly visible, the spied E-Class’ nose and tail remain covered with camouflage. Even so, squinting to make out details is not necessary. The full front grille is visible as are the headlights. One difference looks to be the daytime running LED lights which, unlike the S-Class, light up on both the upper and lower parts of the headlight unit.
The big reveal in this series of images is the new 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class’ interior. We had presumed the brand’s huge 12.9-inch display would be offered, and it looks as though we were right. It seems like the C-Class’ 11.9-inch display will be standard while the larger OLED hardware with haptic feedback will be optional.
As of now, powertrain selections are still unconfirmed. As the new E-Class will continue to ride on the existing MRA2 platform, all “base” engines will feature 48-volt mild-hybrid systems as standard. From there, we expect that Mercedes-Benz will offer multiple hybrid and plug-in hybrid alternatives. As for the AMG E63, odds are it will be powered by the new 2024 C63 S E Performance’s F1-style 670 hp turbo-four plug-in hybrid setup. Having said that, the V8’s not quite done yet as AMG will still build some for the G63 and the upcoming second-generation GT.
By the way, if you’re curious about the performance of the new C63 S’ performance, stay tuned for our First Drive coverage on December 14.
