Training shoes and branded luggage among items coming to a Christmas tree near you this winter
Well, it’s been a Very Quiet News Day, hasn’t it? Barely a ripple of controversy to be found anywhere in the land. Which might explain why we’re bringing you news of some extortionately-priced, McLaren-branded gear.
Presenting Exhibit A, a new footwear collaboration between McLaren and sneaker – sorry, training shoe – manufacturer APL, provided in a range of very bright and very bold colours.
Now we’ve never gleaned a press release for shoe specs before so bear with us: the trainers provide an ‘entirely new silhouette’, are ‘performance-focused’, and, um, are inspired by the ‘chic, streamline aesthetics’ championed by McLaren.
Oh, and they cost £565.
Next up is the range of travel bags designed and constructed by Tumi. Now, we’ve never gleaned a press release for luggage specs before, so bear with us: the collab represents ‘the ultimate marriage of intelligent innovation and conscious design’, apparently. As opposed to unconscious design?
Choices include the Aero International Expandable four-wheel carry-on Velocity Backpack, Torque Sling and Quantum Duffel, all of which come complete with much carbon fibre and leather detailing.
Oh, and prices start from £895.
Finally there’s a 1:18 scale model of the McLaren Artura, made by official licensee GT Spirit Model Car. The resin model is part of a limited series with a number designation under the chassis. At £159, it’s the most likely to be called ‘a bargain’. By some stretch.
All worth it to get the Lando look, right?
