Mitsubishi Australia has announced its lightly updated Triton range for 2023, with prices bumped up and some changes to the variant line-up.
Headlining the announcement is the addition of the Mitsubishi Triton Sport Edition, a highly specified, limited-run variant with aesthetic changes to stand out from the rest of the Triton family.
Based on the also-new GLS Deluxe variant, and priced from $56,440 before on-road costs, the Triton Sport Edition is limited to 400 units, and visually differs itself from the range with dark trim and red accents, while the cabin gets upholstery in leather with red stitching.
As it’s based on the GLS Deluxe, the Triton Sport Edition is available as a six-speed automatic 4×4 with the 2.4-litre turbo diesel engine only, where the engine produces 133kW and 460Nm.
Small changes have been made to the GLS too, namely the addition of the GLS Deluxe edition which adds some leather to the interior trim, including the seats that are power-adjustable and heated.
The regular GLS, as well as the GLX-R, also regains the SDA1 multimedia system that Mitsubishi had recently withheld due to supply constraints. It features a 7.0-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, as well as two USB points and a HDMI port.
Two more variants in the range also get minor updates, with the lower-spec GLX gaining black side-steps as standard for ingress and egress, which Mitsubishi says doubles as additional side-intrusion protection.
For the top-spec GSR, a new ‘Tan Orange Interior’ option pack has been added, which pretty much does what it says on the tin. It adds ‘tan-orange’ leather highlights to the black leather seats, as well as to the console storage box and to the knee rest. It also adds orange stitching to the black leather trim in places like the door, steering wheel, and park brake handle. This pack adds $1000 to the price of a regular GSR, available only in auto as a 4×4 dual-cab.
Finally, Mitsubishi has culled one variant from the range, its former base model, the lower-output petrol version of the GLX Single Cab Chassis. This means the entry price for a Triton now starts at $30,740 for a turbo-diesel GLX, which has had its price bumped up from the previous $29,240.

It, like many variants of the Triton, have received a $1500 price increase, while some versions have only gone up by $750 to $1000.
The highest starting price for a Triton is now $64,640, which gets buyers a GSR dual-cab optioned up with a Tan Orange pack and a Roll Top Tonneau pack.
This comes only months after the Triton’s range pricing was bumped up in April 2022.
Mitsubishi has also standardised the engine across the range to the 133kW/430Nm 2.4-litre turbo-diesel four cylinder, with either six-speed manual or auto determining the claimed fuel efficiency ranging between 7.8L/100km and 8.6L/100km.
The updated versions of Triton are due to start production next month, with first deliveries expected in December.
