BYD’s launch in Australia has seen a huge amount of interest from ICE car owners looking at making the switch. Thousands of orders have been reported for the EVs, even with no official test drives as of yet.
Now there have been sightings of a right-hand drive Atto 3 EV on the road along with a dealership yard full of Atto 3s.

A NSW registered right-hand drive BYD Atto 3 was spotted by Twitter user Electric Future. In the tweet on Saturday, a white Atto 3 can be seen on the road.

This would be one of a handful of registered BYD Atto 3s on our roads as of August. That’s about to change with many of these EVs being spotted at a dealership in Melbourne on Friday afternoon.
Many BYD EVs near Melbourne experience centre
With the first deliveries of this highly anticipated BYD EV getting closer, multiple Atto 3 EVs have been seen next to a yet-to-be-opened Melbourne experience centre in Dandenong.

To our understanding, this is the largest amount of BYD Atto 3s being seen in one location as the manufacturer prepares for its first customer deliveries.
That’s quite a positive update for thousands of order holders of this first ground-up EV that’s priced under the $50,000 mark in Australia.
Supply of non-Tesla EVs looks to improve
With the recent National EV summit last Friday highlighting some of the EV supply constraints that Australia has, it’s looking like the supply will be improving over the coming months from non-Tesla EV brands too.
Over the coming months, as the experience centres open and the customer backlog reduces, BYD will be aiming to get as many EVs to our shores as possible. That’s because they do not have the same constraints as traditional car makers on selling ICE vehicles.
With EV demand surging, local supply and deliveries from EV-focused brands can only go one way from here.
