Arriving in dealerships later this summer.
As the their flagship SUV, the Enclave serves as Buick’s seven-passenger entry into the murderously competitive three-row family hauler segment. With other brands constantly rolling out upgrades for their own rigs, the tri-shield division knows it’s important to keep up with the Jonses. That’s why they’ve added some features to the Enclave for the 2020 model year.
A new Sport Touring package is a monochromatic take on the current Buick styling language. It features a unique grille with body-color surround and 20-inch bright machined aluminum wheels with contrasting Satin Graphite pockets. The package is available on the Essence trim level, a machine which starts around $50,000 in this country for a front-wheel drive version. Sending power to all four corners adds about two grand.
Don’t go thinking Buick’s ST is a rival for Ford’s ST, though, at least in the power department. Enclaves fitted with the Sport Touring package will get the same 3.6L V6 engine that all of its brothers get, making 310 horsepower and 266lb.-ft of torque. While the number of ponies is in with a shout of the Blue Oval, there is over a 100lb.-ft difference in torque. Future mechanics take note: the Enclave has different brakes this year, too.
This year’s Enclave features a few comfort updates as well, plus Buick’s next-gen infotainment system. This new 8-inch diagonal touchscreen comes standard on all trim levels and offers features such as available connected nav and a version of SiriusXM radio which combines satellite and streaming to deliver more channels and content to your ears. Other new tech additions include available new HD Rear Vision Camera and HD Surround Vision systems so you can more easily spot Junior’s bike that he wantonly left in the driveway.
New four-way power lumbar seat adjustments promise to soothe aching backs. A driver and front passenger massage feature is now standard on the Premium and Avenir models, allowing Enclave owners to reach the golf course or Mason’s lodge relaxed and refreshed.
Eagle-eyed car spotters will want to know that the top-rung Enclave Avenir gets a sleeker appearance for 2020 with a lower panel that now matches the rest of the exterior. Three new exterior colors round out the updates including Champagne Gold, Rich Garnet (Avenir only), and Dark Moon Blue. The trio of Black Cherry, Havana Metallic, and Pepperdust have vanished. Those of you interested in the Sport Touring can select their Enclave in white, black, silver, or red.
The 2020 Buick Enclave will arrive in dealerships later this summer.
