Is the Kia EV6 reliable?
The Kia EV6 went on sale as a 2022 model year vehicle, meaning that useful real-world reliability information is difficult to nail down. The model is just too new.
Recently, Kia was rated the number one brand by J.D. Power and Associates, among all mainstream and premium brands — meaning that among thousands of surveys of people who own three-year-old vehicles, Kia owners were the least likely to report problems. The Kia EV6 was not included amongst these test results, but industry wide, Kia is the current leader in dependability, according to this major annual study.
Major EV6 components, including the electric motor (or motors) and battery, are covered by an eight-year, 150,000 kilometre warranty.
Can a Kia EV6 use a Tesla charger?
No.
Currently, Tesla charging stations are available for use by Tesla models only. You can’t charge a Kia EV6 (or any other non-Tesla EV) on a Tesla public charging station — though some non-Tesla EV owners do use Tesla home chargers with an adapter to recharge their non-Tesla EVs.
The gist? You can use a Tesla home charger to charge your EV6 if you like, but public Tesla charging stations are for Teslas only.
Is the Kia EV6 AWD?
Yes.
In Canada, both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive (AWD) configurations are offered. Rear-wheel drive models are available in Standard Range (SR) configurations, or the Long Range (LR) configuration. In Canada, the Kia EV6 starts at $44,995 for a rear-drive, Standard Range model, with the rear-drive, Long Range model coming in at $52,995.
Running two electric motors instead of one, the AWD-equipped EV6 starts in the Long Range configuration at $54,995, making AWD a $2,000 investment.
The Long Range AWD model with GT-Line Package 1 is priced from $57,995, with the Long Range AWD GT-Line Package 2 representing the current top-line model which is priced at $61,995.

Which Kia EV6 has a sunroof?

Look for up to 1,322 litres of cargo space, a 2,900-millimetre wheelbase, an overall length of 4,694 mm and an overall height of 1,544 mm. Average weight clocks in around 4,500 pounds.
The EV6 is roughly the same size as a Hyundai Ioniq 5, Jaguar I-Pace, Ford Mustang Mach-e, and Mercedes GLC Coupe. With the lowest overall height in that list, the EV6 benefits from a low and sleek roofline that gives it a distinctively athletic look — though taller occupants will wish for more headroom.
Is the Kia EV6 a hybrid?
No.
Hybrid cars have special hybrid gasoline engines that can run on both gasoline and electricity at the same time. The ‘EV’ in EV6 means electric vehicle — and in an electric vehicle, there’s no gasoline involved. So, the EV6 is an EV, not a hybrid. That means there’s no fuel tank, exhaust pipe, or engine, and all driving is electrically powered.

Can you charge a Kia EV6 at home?
Yes.
Most EV owners, including owners of the EV6, will charge almost exclusively at home.
On a standard household outlet, you’ll be able to add about four kilometres to the battery for every hour or charging, or about one kilometre per hour in winter conditions with temperatures well below zero. On a more powerful household Level 2 charger, expect about 40 kilometres per hour of recharging at room temperature, and about 25 to 30 in the cold.By the way, my tester’s 411-kilometre battery was able to provide a comfortable 315 kilometres of driving below the freezing mark, with generous use of the heater. That’s plenty of range for most Canadians, who drive less than 50 kilometres per day, even in the winter months.
Public charging may also be available in your area, and on a compatible fast charger, you can bring the EV6’s battery from nearly empty to nearly full in about 20 minutes — or add 100 kilometres of range during the average road-trip bathroom and coffee stop.

Which Kia EV6 has a heat pump?
In Canada, the heat pump climate control system is available on the EV6 RWD Long Range model and up.
A heat pump enhances the EV’s climate control system by capturing and recycling heat that’s typically wasted, to improve system performance and reduce the effect of cold temperatures on the range of the battery.
