The 2023 Toyota Sequoia is a complete redesign after a long 15 years of little to no updates for the nameplate. Even the Toyota Tundra got a redesign sooner than the Sequoia did. Both Toyota models have gotten plenty of flack for being antiquated compared to rivals. Thankfully, Toyota is switching things up for both the Sequoia and the Tundra.
The large Toyota models have gotten many interior and exterior updates. The most shocking new development for both vehicles is the addition of a new hybrid powertrain. Why is this so shocking? The Tundra and the Sequoia have long histories of being thirsty, even for their size. Toyota realized that gas guzzlers are going out of style because some of its thirstiest nameplates are getting better fuel economy updates.
The Sequoia does contrast with the Tundra in a big way when it comes to powertrain options. The Toyota Sequoia and Toyota Sienna exclusively have hybrid powertrains.
According to Motor1, the Sequoia doesn’t have an EPA estimate yet. That being said, it’s hard to imagine the Sequoia having worse gas mileage than its previous 14-15 miles per gallon.
The 2022 Toyota Sienna gets great gas mileage for its size
The 2022 Toyota Sienna’s standard hybrid powertrain is a breath of fresh air. Normally vehicles of the Sienna’s size tend to get horrible gas mileage. This isn’t the case with the Sienna.
The Toyota Sienna achieves a whopping 36 miles per gallon in the city and 36 miles per gallon on the highway. Its fuel economy rivals many small SUVs and even cars. When it comes to road trips, who wouldn’t want to go the distance with a Sienna over some of its thirstier rivals?
The 2022 Toyota Sienna starts at $34,710. It comes standard with features like a 4.2-inch Multi-Information Display, a remote keyless entry system, and a 12-volt DC outlet. The 2022 model year is introducing a Woodland trim for the casual off-roading enthusiast. It includes increased ground clearance and standard all-wheel drive.
