The lawsuit is said to potentially be on behalf of thousands of people who have purchased an old FedEx vehicle.
According to a media report, FedEx has been accused of rolling back the odometer readings of its old delivery trucks in a new lawsuit.
The reports state that FedEx not only tampered with the odometer but also didn’t disclose which of the vehicles had their odometer replaced. Also, Holman Automotive, which manages FedEx’s commercial fleet has been accused of selling the vehicles for more than they were worth due to the incorrect odometer.
As per Tom Layton – a plaintiff in Nevada, he sold an old FedEx truck to a contractor in 2017, who made the discovery and initially accused Layton of fraud. Layton then realised that the odometer was changed by FedEx and not by any car dealership.
The lawsuit is said to potentially be on behalf of thousands of people who have purchased an old FedEx vehicle.
Reports state that ordinarily, companies like FedEx stop using the delivery trucks once they reach their operational limit of 350,000 miles. However, a scheme was started almost a decade ago, where FedEx sold the old delivery trucks at auto auctions instead of scrapping them.
