2022 Kia e-Niro: what is it?
The Kia e-Niro is a five-seat electric SUV that's also available as a hybrid and plug-in hybrid too.
When it was launched in 2016, the e-Niro changed the game for EVs, because it went further than most others for much less money.
Here we can see the second generation of the e-Niro out testing. Kia has ensured we can't see much with all that cladding, but there are a few things to take away.
It looks to have a longer wheelbase and plastic wheelarch cladding that continues at the bottom of the doors. Kia's HabaNiro concept previewed angular LED daytime running lights too, although we can't see these here.
All-told, it's likely the new Niro will be a sportier looking SUV, with a more premium finish outside and in.
2022 Kia e-Niro: what is it powered by?
There are no details yet on what exactly the Niro will be powered by, but we're fairly sure the Niro will still get hybrid, plug-in hybrid and EV versions.
The current e-Niro can travel up to around 280 miles on a charge, but given Kia's latest EV the EV6 can go as much as 340 miles, we expect this new tech to make it across to the e-Niro and boost its range.
2022 Kia e-Niro: when will it be on sale?
We expect the new e-Niro to be revealed at the end of 2021, so it should be going on sale shortly after in early 2022.
2022 Kia e-Niro: how much will it cost?
There are no confirmed prices for the 2022 e-Niro just yet, but given the current car's price, we expect it to remain broadly similar and start from around £35,000.
