2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N: what is it?
It's what looks like a hot version of the Hyundai Ioniq5 EV.
Hyundai has seen success with the hot N versions of its i30 family hatch and i20 small car, and there has been an extremely positive reaction to its concept car-like Ioniq 5 EV.
The Ioniq 5 looks superb, has a decent range and is sensibly priced, winning it many fans. The thought of an Inoiq 5 N is therefore a very exciting one.
We can see from these images that Hyundai is testing this mule a The Ring with lowered suspension and upgraded brakes. There looks to be wider tyres fitted too, forcing slightly winder wheel arches.
2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N: what is it powered by?
Nothing is confirmed when it comes to battery and motors, but the current most powerful Ioniq 5 gets a 73kWh battery, a motor on each axle and 305hp.
However, Kia recently revealed specs for its EV6, and the most powerful version of that car, the GT, produces 585hp via a 77kWHh battery and a motor on each axle.
The EV6 GT can hit 62mph from a standstill in just 3.5 seconds and go on to 163mph. Its range (if driven carefully) is 316 miles.
So, it'd make sense for sister-brand Hyundai to draw upon this tech and fit it to the Ioniq 5 N, making it the most powerful Hyundai on sale by some margin.
2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N: when will it be on sale?
We don't have confirmed dates for when an Ioniq 5 N might go on sale, but we expect it to be revealed next year in 2022.
2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N: how much will it cost?
There are no confirmed prices for an Ioniq 5 N yet, but given the most expensive Ioniq 5 costs £48,000 and the Kia EV6 GT costs £58,000, we'd wager an Ioniq 5 N would cost the thick end of £60,000 when it goes on sale.
