2021 Kia Sportage: what is it?
Kia’s answer to midsize SUVs like the Volkswagen Tiguan and Ford Kuga, the Sportage is about to enter its fifth generation and as a result is receiving a significant overhaul.
These latest pictures show newly designed headlights that sit lower than they do on the outgoing model, and it seems the radiator grille has grown in size.
The roofline appears to have a sharper rake and the C-pillar has become slimmer, which will give the car a sportier look. Living up to its name, then. The Sportage’s overall dimensions are unlikely to change.
While it’s heavily camouflaged, we expect the back of the car to retain the strip light found on the current version, but the rear LEDs will get a re-design. The car seen here also seems to be riding on new 19-inch alloys.
Inside the Sportage will likely mimic its sister car, the Hyundai Tucson, which means it will come with two 10.25-inch digital driver displays and large infotainment screen.
2021 Kia Sportage: what is it powered by?
Again, sharing hardware with the Tucson the new Sportage will almost certainly be available in both all-wheel drive and two-wheel drive variants, and offer a range of 48v mild hybrid engines.
Customers will be able to option a traditional hybrid which mates a 1.6-litre petrol engine with a 59bhp electric motor, good for 227bhp and 350Nm of torque.
A plug-in hybrid will also be on offer, which uses the same 1.6-litre engine but comes with a bigger battery which will be able to cover around 30-miles on a full charge.
2021 Kia Sportage: when will it be on sale?
The finished car will be unveiled in June, which means customers will be able to order it before the end of 2021.
2021 Kia Sportage: how much will it cost?
Prices for the current Kia Sportage start at £23,810 and most new generations of a car come with a slight price hike, so it would be reasonable to expect prices for the new car to start around £25,000.
Kia is yet to announce costs yet, but you can be sure the 2021 Kia Sportage will come with Kia’s excellent seven-year warranty.
