It’s understated, but a second glances confirm its presence. Sitting on 19-inch alloy wheels with minimal trim accents and privacy glass, it just looks ready for business. We find most current Skoda products to be quietly sophisticated and the Octavia fits that mould too.
The Limited Edition sits above the Ambition and Style grades, picking up useful kit like a head-up display and three zone air conditioning. It has 40kW less power than the top of range RS, but in no way feels underpowered.
The clamshell bonnet with swooping press lines flows into the front grille corners. The front end features matrix LED headlamps with daytime running lights above the cornering LED fog lamps.
Those 19-inch Becrux alloy wheels contain 15 spokes, are finished in Anthracite and almost look in motion while standing still. As befits the general vehicle feel, the interior is ready to go.
Both front seats are equipped with memory setting, heating, cooling and massage operation. The rear seats, with adequate legroom depending on front seat position, sport heating, their own AC controls and two USB-C charge ports.

The seating is finished in leather with some synthetic portions, and feels premium. Blue interior ambient lighting is fitted for a low key feel, with Octavia ground display logo lighting.
The steering wheel is comfortable and well equipped, with functional operating buttons, tilt and rake adjustment. Once the lift back is raised, the Octavia’s cargo space looks very capable too, with 600-litres available.
Fold the rear seats down and this expands to 1555-litres, satisfying most everyday space needs. Various nets, adjustable cargo hooks and side compartments complete the utility capabilities.
There are bottle holders all round, two front console cup holders, and two in the rear seat armrest. Map pockets are fitted to the rear of both front seats and the console cubby box has a padded armrest, of course.
The front passenger door pocket includes a small rubbish bin. The rear passengers have a front seat mounted tablet holder for work or play.

The Octavia Limited Edition is powered by a 2.0-litre four cylinder turbo engine driving the front wheels, through a seven speed DSG transmission. The gear selection is shift-by-wire using a chrome button, which is simple in looks and operation.
It has an automatic stop/start function which worked seamlessly through our mixed testing. It certainly contributed to our best fuel usage figure of 6.0-litres/100km, compared to official combined figures of 6.1-litres/100km.
This goes some way to mitigate fuel shock as the Skoda requires 95 RON fuel. While we’re on the topic of small annoyances with this car, we find the close positioning of brake and accelerator pedals awkward.
Skoda’s keyless entry system is present, and includes electric opening and closing of the lift back. Auto headlamps and wipers, heated folding door mirrors with memory, and a tyre pressure monitoring system are just some of the goodies that make up the equipment list.
The Limited Edition, like the Style and RS grades, get the Columbus 10.0-inch infotainment screen, with satellite navigation. However, we find the heating and air conditioning functions screen to be a little complicated while driving.

As expected there is a wireless charging pad in the front console, adjacent to two USB-C ports. The Canton premium audio system is impressive and fills the cabin through 12 speakers. Bluetooth, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Audio are standard.
The virtual cockpit allows display of the instrument cluster in a style to suit personal taste. The head-up display is crisp and adjustable for individual use.
The Octavia also offers a good range of colours, including Candy White (as tested), Magic Black Pearl, Lava Blue, Graphite Grey, Brilliant Silver, Moon White and Velvet Red. Black (dark grey) is the standard interior trim colour with silver and chrome interior highlights.
A tow bar is the only factory option available for the Limited Edition, priced at $2100, fitted. The Skoda is covered by a 5-year unlimited kilometre warranty with one year roadside assistance. Yearly (or 15,000km) service intervals apply.
Three and five year service plans are also offered. The Skoda is big on the safety front too, with 10 airbags, front assist, city emergency braking with pedestrian and cycle protection and adaptive cruise control with lane assist.

There’s also blind spot detection, outboard ISOFIX mounts and a car alarm. It has a 5-star ANCAP safety rating. The 2022 Skoda Octavia 140TSI Limited Edition lift back is priced at $50,490 drive away.
