TOYOTA CITY: Toyota has launched sales of its Kirobo Mini communication partner on Wednesday through its dealerships across Japan.
As typical of toys, the Kirobo Mini is cuddlesome and designed to operate as a companion to humans.
It fits in the palm of the hand and is only 10 cm high when seated. It turns its head towards the person speaking and engages in what approximates casual conversation, while moving its head and hands. Its compact size means it can be taken anywhere.
Presales were launched at designated dealers in Tokyo and Aichi Prefecture in May this year, starting with customers looking to interact with communication partners such as Kirobo Mini.
One feature of Kirobo Mini is the ability for users to share their Kirobo Mini experience with other users on the official communication website “With Kirobo Mini Friend Park.” The website allows users to share personal moments with their own Kirobo Mini and exchange information to help others learn more about the Kirobo Mini.
Kirobo Mini can also communicate with its owner based on information acquired from the cars and homes of users.
The Kirobo Mini is sold in Japan at 42,984 yen (RM1,589). A monthly fee of 350 yen (RM13) is required for use of the dedicated app. An optional carry case with chair costs 6,426 yen (RM238).
