More power, tech for Corolla as MY22 upgrades ahead for Yaris, Yaris Cross, C-HR, GR Supra and Camry
Toyota Australia has announced a raft of upgrades across its passenger car and SUV portfolio, led by the MY22 Toyota Corolla small car that picks up a variety of enhancements including more power for hybrid variants.
Specifically, the 1.8-litre petrol-electric powerplant will offer an extra 8kW, taking the Corolla Hybrid’s maximum power figure to 98kW.
The Corolla range will also inherit the brand’s latest-generation infotainment system with more USB-C outlets as well as connected services, refreshed alloy wheel designs and an updated colour palette.

The 2022 Toyota Yaris Cross will be the next-biggest beneficiary of the latest round of updates via an upgraded cabin, still-to-be-detailed “improved technology”, black leather trim for the top-spec Urban models and, like the Corolla, an updated array of body colours.
As previously reported, the Toyota GR Supra is in line to receive redesigned alloy wheels and a long-awaited manual transmission.

Meanwhile, the Toyota Yaris, C-HR and Camry will be treated to a “raft of new colours and finishes”.
Further details, including pricing, are set to be released closer to the updated model rollout in the second half of the year.

According to Toyota Australia marketing and franchise operations vice-president Sean Hanley, the new updates are further proof of the brand’s commitment to constant model line improvement.
“Toyota will continue to keep our customers informed on key changes to our significant line-up and we encourage our customers to speak with their preferred Toyota dealer about these enhancements,” he said.
As is the way across most brands today, pricing for the updated Toyota models will more than likely increase.
