The Toyota Corolla will gain a power upgrade for the petrol-hybrid version, as well as enhanced safety, security and multimedia technologies
As part of Toyota Australia’s announcement that the majority of its passenger-car range will gain improvements, the Corolla Hybrid is poised to gain a small boost in power for the 2023 model year.
Toyota has stated that hybrid variants of the Corolla hatchback and sedan will now be 8kW better off than before, lifting the total power output to 98kW. Non-hybrid Corolla variants will continue to use the 127kW/200Nm 2.0-litre ‘Dynamic Force’ petrol four-cylinder with unchanged power and torque outputs.
The Corolla update will come into effect in the second half of 2022 in Australia.

What else is new for Corolla and the rest of the Toyota range?
The updated Corolla hatch and sedan will also feature a refreshed multimedia system, including additional USB-C connectivity. New alloy-wheel designs and an updated colour palette will also be part of Corolla’s MY23 update.
Toyota’s refresh treatment will also apply to Yaris hatch, Yaris Cross, C-HR, GR Supra and Camry models – including an updated colour palette for everything bar the GR Supra.

‘Toyota Connected Services’ will be part of the update, which outfits each car with an onboard beacon to alert emergency services in the event of an accident. This software includes automatic collision notification, SOS emergency call and stolen vehicle tracking – all of which could prove vital in an emergency situation.
This broad-ranging round of updates follows Toyota’s announcement that the GR Supra will soon be offered with a six-speed manual transmission option, as well as new alloy-wheel designs for the first time since its launch in September 2019.
