Toll fee increase in SCTEX effective October 17, 2023

TRB authorizes toll adjustment for Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway

The Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) will raise toll fees effective tomorrow, October 17, 2023. This is after the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) approved the toll rate adjustment and authorized the implementation of an additional PHP 0.64 toll rate increase per kilometer.

This is also the second consecutive toll rate increase by SCTEX in 16 months.

According to the management of SCTEX, the new toll rate increase is part of the periodic adjustments that were due in 2021 and 2022. TRB and SCTEX agreed to implement the adjustments in tranches to help cushion their impact on the users of the expressway, and this will be the first of three tranches.

Under the new toll fee matrix, motorists with Class 1 vehicles, including 400cc and above motorcycles, traveling between Mabalacat City to Tarlac will be charged an additional PHP 25.00.

Meanwhile, an additional PHP 40.00 will be charged to Class 1 vehicles traveling between Mabalacat City and Tipo, Hermosa, Bataan (near Subic Freeport). Those traveling SCTEX end-to-end between Tipo, Hermosa, Bataan (near Subic Freeport) to Tarlac will pay an additional PHP 65.00 for Class 1.

The new rates were approved in August this year but SCTEX decided to defer implementation to October in light of the inflationary situation. From 2020 to 2022, the company undertook numerous infrastructure and enhancement projects as part of its commitment to improve motorists’ safety and convenience while traveling the SCTEX.

These include the upgrading of roadway lights and signage; maintenance and toll plaza improvement works, pavement replacement and crack sealing, guardrail and fence repairs, RFID system enhancements, toll systems upgrades, the Dinalupihan road raising project, and the Porac Gumain, San Matias and Pasig Potrero bridges repairs.

With these new toll rates for SCTEX, always ensure that you have sufficient RFID load before traveling to avoid any hassle and delays.
