The Toyota Yaris Cross will be available with 1.5-litre petrol and petrol-hybrid powertrains.
Toyota has unveiled a new SUV for the ASEAN market. The new model is called the Yaris Cross and it will compete with the likes of the Hyundai Creta.
The Yaris Cross for ASEAN countries is different from the one sold in Europe. It is based on the modular DNGA platform, which is shared with models like the Yaris sedan, Avanza MPV and Raize. It measures 4,310 mm in length and its wheelbase is 2,620 mm.
The ASEAN-spec Yaris Cross features a trapezoidal grille flanked by sharp triangular headlamps up front. The car has a wide air dam with a silver skid plate. It has squared-off wheel arches with black plastic cladding and dual-tone alloy wheels, while the rear resembles the Corolla Cross sold in the global market.
The Yaris Cross will be available with two engine options. These include a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine that makes 103 BHP and 138 Nm and a petrol hybrid with a combined output of 168 BHP and 262 Nm.
