The Honda BeAt may be a Malaysian offering, but it seems quite suitable for our conditions as well
Honda has taken the wraps off the 2022 BeAt scooter in Malaysia. The scooter serves as a commuter offering in Southeast Asian markets, the same role which is played by the Honda Activa in our country, and gets some aesthetic updates for this model year.
Here are all of its details.
2022 Honda BeAt Design
The Honda BeAt, though a commuter, gets a sporty design. It has a sharp fascia with a broad LED headlight, complemented by edgy body panels and a fairly tall front mudguard.
The rear, however, looks quite conventional, doing away with bulb-type illumination.
Honda has priced it at Rs 1 lakh in Malaysia. Swipe up to know more about the BeAt.
Honda offers the BeAt in four colours:
- Clipper Yellow
- Pearl Magellanic Black
- Vivacity Red
- Pearl Nightfall Blue
The first two are new additions for 2022, while the latter two have been carried over from earlier. Between the four, the Pearl Magellanic Black looks the best, in our opinion.
2022 Honda BeAt Features
It has a semi-digital instrument cluster, much better than the Honda Activa 6G’s unit
On the features front, the Honda BeAt gets everything you’d expect from a scooter of this calibre. The list includes an LED headlight, a multifunction key slot, a front disc brake, and a semi-digital instrument cluster, which is much better than the Honda Activa’s analogue unit.
It also offers 11.5-litre of underseat storage, accessible via a button near the key slot.
2022 Honda BeAt Power & Underpinnings
Though a commuter, the scooter bears a sporty design language. The bigger tires and better suspension travel would make it ideal for our conditions
Now, let’s talk about the engine. Powering the Honda BeAt is a 109cc, single-cylinder motor putting out 8.8PS and 9.53Nm. This is 1PS and 0.7Nm more than the India-spec Honda Activa 6G.
Honda has unveiled the 2022 BeAt scooter in Malaysia
The BeAt is built around an underbone chassis and employs telescopic forks and a single shock absorber to iron out bumps. The bigger tires and better suspension travel would make it ideal for our conditions. Meanwhile, braking is via a front disc brake and rear drum brake, both mated by a Combined Braking System (CBS).
The scooter weighs just 90kg, which coupled with its low 740mm seat height, should make it a breeze to ride around in the city.
2022 Honda BeAt Price
Finally, we come to the price. Honda has priced the 2022 BeAt at RM 5,555 ( Rs 1 lakh). This is a little high by Indian standards, but considering Honda is happy with its current scooter lineup in India, we shouldn’t worry about it.
Nevertheless, the Honda BeAt sure looks like a fun scooter for our roads and could be a hit here, if Honda brings it here at a good price.
