Here is yet another competent scooter from Honda’s global portfolio, that has the potential shake up the Indian scooter market
Honda has various kinds of products in the Chinese market which we’d love to see on our shores. The latest addition to this list is the Honda NS125LA scooter, the company’s new premium 125cc scooter.
With a powerful heart, smart looks, and loads of modern features, this makes perfect sense for India and could surely be the shot in the arm Honda needs to re-establish itself as the ‘scooter king’ in our market.
Honda NS125LA Scooter – Design & Features
Take a look at the new Honda NS125LA scooter
One look at the Honda NS125LA and it looks properly premium. This is courtesy of its neo-retro design language which makes it look more Italian than a Vespa.
The likable design is carried on towards the rear too
Up front, you get a round, horizontally split LED headlight flanked by sleek LED indicators, along with round chrome rearview mirrors. Accompanying the likable fascia are flowing body panels, a premium ribbed seat, and blacked out alloy wheels.
Like the fascia, the rear end also looks premium and boasts a ‘U’ shaped LED along with a black exhaust with a chrome heat shield.
There’s no shortage of features as you get LED lights, USB charging, ample storage space, and a digital instrument cluster, along with keyless ignition
Coming to features, the scooter has a lot on offer including:
- All-LED lights
- Keyless ignition
- Smartkey
- Front cubby storage with USB charger
- 20-liter underseat storage
- CBS
All this is bested by a colored LCD instrument cluster that looks quite futuristic.
Honda NS125LA Scooter – Engine & Underpinnings
There’s plenty more about the NS125LA which makes it a competent scooter for our market and, dare we say, better than the Activa 125. Swipe up to know more.
Under the skin, the Honda NS125LA is powered by a 124.9cc, single-cylinder mill that belts out 8.8PS and 9.87Nm. For reference, the Indian Activa 125 makes 0.7PS less than the NS125LA.
The NS125LA also holds 0.7-liter more fuel than the Activa, which is probably why its 1kg heavier than the latter.
The scooter rolls on 10-inch alloy wheels and has a front disc brake as standard
The motor sits in an underbone chassis and relies on telescopic forks and a monoshock for suspension duties. Meanwhile, the scooter rolls on 10-inch alloy wheels clamped by a disc brake at the front and a drum brake at the rear.
What’s The Price?
The scooter adopts an Italian design language which is quite likable
The Honda NS125LA was introduced in China where it retails at 11,900 Yuan (Rs 1.42 lakh). This is quite pricey by Indian standards but there are no two ways about the fact that this is a very competent scooter for our market, if priced correctly.
Nevertheless, if you are looking for a premium scooter in India, do check out the Yamaha Aerox 155.
