As part of Toyota’s new energy vehicles offensive in South Africa, the Corolla sedan line-up has been given a nip-tuck boasting new features and perkier engines. Here is what has changed.

With the Corolla hatch hybrid being introduced into our market and the RAV4 PHEV testing the waters for a local introduction, the existing Corolla sedan line-up has also been refreshed. This includes an upgraded hybrid model which wears the same running gear as the hatchback alternative.
The 4th-generation 1,8-litre hybrid engine has been replaced by a 5th-generation alternative which offers enhanced performance, refinement and efficiency while the lithium-ion battery boasts enhanced cooling capacity is the most significant part of the upgrade.
Seven exterior colours can be chosen on the new Corolla sedan, these include Glacier White, Satin Silver, Celestite Grey and Platinum White Pearl are joined by Cinnabar Red, Attitude Black and Moonlight Ocean Metallic.

The inside includes a revised digital instrument cluster for the Xs grade models which measures in at 7-inches. Higher specification Xr models will retain the same digital cluster from before while all derivatives will include leather trim.
Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 will also be included on models in the lineup, which incorporate radar sensors for semi-autonomous driving. Along with this will be Pre-Collision Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Trace Assist, Auto High Beam (AHB). In addition, Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) and Safe Exit Assist (SEA) also forms part of the Xr grade package.

All Toyota Corolla models will be sold with a 6-services/90 000 km service plan. Petrol models carry a 3-year/100 000km warranty, while hybrid models hold an 8-year/195 000 km warranty plan.
