Toyota is offering a $1500 finance deposit bonus on most versions of its HiLux ute.

Buying a car right now is tough, so if you are hoping for some end-of-financial-year (EOFY) deals to alleviate the friction of getting into a new set of wheels, we’ve got some bad news for you.

Because this year, like last year, there just aren’t that many EOFY bargains to be found.

And the lack of discounting comes down to one thing – demand is far outstripping supply thanks to ongoing parts shortages and long wait times.

That doesn’t mean brands aren’t trying however, as this list of EOFY deals from the top 10 brands will show, but there’s no doubt that customers have had it tough since the onset of 2020’s global pandemic.

Toyota

With wait times of up to 12 months for its popular models like RAV4 and LandCruiser, it’s little wonder Toyota is lacking the stock to entice buyers this end of financial year.

The only offer available on Toyota Australia’s website this year is for its HiLux ute range, with the only incentive being a $1500 finance deposit bonus on all variants barring the top-spec Rugged X and Rogue.

That’s right, no driveaway deals, discounted stock or extra accessories thrown in here, sorry folks!

Mazda

Mazda traditionally eschews EOFY deals in favour of its own big sale event in August or September known as ‘M day’.

This means the number two brand in Australia is likely holding back deals for that event, with just driveaway pricing currently listed on Mazda’s website.

Regardless, Mazda is spruiking the value offered in its line-up, as well as its five-year/unlimited kilometre warranty, five years of roadside assist and capped-price servicing.

Mitsubishi

Like other brands, Mitsubishi Australia is grappling with supply shortages and demand exceeding supply, and as such has not discounted this EOFY.

Mitsubishi Australia’s website lists driveaway pricing for models like the ASX, Eclipse Cross, Outlander, Pajero Sport and Triton, but no major discounting can be found here.

Of course, all Mitsubishi models sold come with a 10-year warranty and 10 years of capped-pricing servicing.

Hyundai

Hyundai is running EOFY specials targeted towards tradies and business owners looking for a Staria-Load van.

There is a $1000 factory bonus on Crew Van body styles, while the Van version can be had with a $159 weekly repayment at an interest rate of 3.95 per cent per annum – both applicable to ABN holders.

Elsewhere, a 3.9 per cent comparison rate is available to Venue and i30 hatchback, but no major discounting or bonus offers are available here.

Kia

Like everywhere else, Kia is only advertising driveaway pricing on some models on its website.

No major discounting can be found here, but on-roads pricing is available on models like the Stonic, Cerato, Stinger, Picanto and Rio.

All Kia models sold come with a seven-year/unlimited kilometre warranty.

Ford

Traditionally strong for EOFY deals due to its tradie-friendly line-up of Ranger, Transit and Transit Custom, Ford Australia look to be skipping discounting this year.

Under Ford Australia’s ‘Offers’ section of the website, it simply states “Sorry about the wait” and directs customers to “call your local Ford dealer” as “they can keep you up-to-date on vehicle arrivals and offers”.

With Ranger now in runout ahead of the new-generation ute’s launch later this year, stock is expected to be thin on the ground.

Nissan

Nissan is on the verge of refreshing most of its line-up with a new Qashqai, X-Trail and Pathfinder all due out before the end of the year, but don’t expect to see major discounts for soon-to-be-old stock.

Nissan Australia’s website lists just low comparison rates on some models when financing with the brand, including 1.9 per cent for Juke and Leaf, and 3.9 per cent for X-Trail.

The Navara however, has a 2.9 per cent annual rate offer for ABN holders, with up to $2500 of bonus factory accessories on some grades.

Volkswagen

Volkswagen actually has a few deals available this EOFY for its Golf, T-Cross, Arteon and Amarok.

For Golf (excluding GTI and R) and T-Cross, VW is throwing in a three-year/45,000km care plan valued at $1450 and $1300 respectively that covers scheduled maintenance over that period.

The Arteon 140TSI Elegance sedan scores a complimentary five-year/75,000km car plan valued at $2500.

The Amarok V6 Highline TDI580 also has a 1.99 per cent finance campaign running, while the Core TDI420 and V6 Core TDI550 are bundled with Enduro Accessory Packs, but stock across the line-up is limited due to the ute reaching the end of its lifecycle.

Subaru

Subaru is currently not running any offers for this EOFY, but is spruiking a promotion where owners can win a trip to Perisher when booking a service online.

Subaru’s new-gen WRX sedan and Sportwagon can also be pre-ordered with the option of guaranteed future value when financing through the brand’s services.

All new Subaru vehicles sold come with a five-year/unlimited kilometre warranty.

MG

No special discounts or offers are available across MG’s line-up, which are already quoted at driveaway pricing.

However, MG is throwing in a free gift this EOFY with every new-car purchase, with buyers able to choose from a basketball, NRL ball, AFL ball or netball “to celebrate the quarter of sport”, according to the brand.

As always, MG’s products are backed by a seven-year/unlimited kilometre warranty.
