Remember the
Hyundai Alcazar
? Well, it’s now being sold outside of India, under a different name: the Grand Creta. Now sold in Latin America as well as South Africa, the Grand Creta is essentially a stretched version of the Creta sub-compact SUV made to accommodate seven seats.
Like the Alcazar, the Grand Creta rides on Hyundai’s K2 platform shared with the non-Grand Creta and the Venue. It also keeps the same engine options such as a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder gas engine with 159 horsepower and 191 Nm of torque as well as a 1.5-liter turbo diesel with 115 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque. Both engines are mated to either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic.
The Grand Creta comes with standard features such as 17-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, an 8-inch infotainment screen, a wireless charger, 6 SRS airbags, and synthetic leather upholstery. Moving up adds more amenities including a panoramic sunroof, an all-digital instrument cluster, and powered driver’s seat.
It’s currently unknown whether the Alcazar / Grand Creta will be sold for ASEAN markets. However, the
Korean automaker did confirm that a 7-seater MPV is coming and that version will be built in Indonesia for markets including the Philippines
. It’s rumored to gain the Stargazer name and will be launched towards the latter half of this year.
