If affordability and reliability are what you’re looking for in a midsize car, a 2015 Toyota Camry is a good bet. It tops U.S. News & World Report’s list, “Best 2015 Affordable Midsize Cars,” outperforming 13 others in its segment, and with good reason. The 2015 Camry is not the absolute cheapest option on the list. Still, it does provide the best overall value in this segment, giving prospective buyers the most bang for their buck.

How much does the 2015 Toyota Camry cost?

As per U.S. News & World Report, you can get your hands on a 2015 Toyota Camry for around $17,065 to $19,206. At first glance, that may seem a bit hefty compared to other models on this list. The least expensive option is the 2015 Hyundai Sonata, which ranks number three on the list. However, its price is listed as an average range of $13,674 to $19,325. So, it’s entirely possible that you might pay more for this model than for a Camry.

At number 5 on the list is the Ford Fusion Hybrid, with an upper range that’s cheaper than the lower range of the Camry. Available for between $14,793 and $16,333, the Fusion Hybrid is a solid vehicle. However, it enjoys a fifth-place ranking because of touchy brakes and less interior space.

You can also try a Kia Optima ($14,392 to $16,946) or the Volkswagen Passat ($13,938 to $16,887). Both are tied for ninth place and share a below-average fuel economy. The former was dinged for its relative lack of agile handling and cramped rear seats. Meanwhile, the latter’s low ranking was driven by a lack of common standard features and a glitchy navigation system.

Or there’s the Chrysler 200, which comes in in last place. You can put your hands on one for between $13,518 and $17,014. However, you might not want to, given its sketchy transmission and poor reliability rating. The reliability rating results from several recalls as dealerships have had to fix the transmission, wiring, infotainment system, shock absorbers, and airbag-related problems.

The Toyota Camry’s reliability ratings don’t raise red flags. So, even if you pay a little more in the short term with the Camry, you’ll be paying less in the long run. Additionally, you won’t have to deal with inconveniences like cramped seating or poor fuel economy.

Before you opt for the top of the list, keep in mind that the Camry isn’t perfect. It’s important to understand what’s good and what’s not so good about the Camry to know if it’s the right fit for you. It is a solid performer, with a six-speed automatic paired with a choice of a 178-horsepower producing four-cylinder or a 268-horsepower generating V6 engine. Its fuel economy is a bit lower than others in its segment at 25/34 mpg city/highway. Additionally, you need to mash the peddle a bit to get decent acceleration.

However, the Camry is blessed with a quiet cabin with respectable amenities. If you’re able to get a higher trim, you’ll find yourself with a 7-inch touch screen infotainment system, 10-speaker JBL audio system, wireless phone charging, satellite radio, moonroof, dual-zone automatic climate control, and more. Furthermore, if you visit your local dealership, you may be able to find a pre-owned Camry still under warranty. Toyota offers a certified pre-owned warranty program covering vehicles with fewer than 85,000 miles.

A 2015 Toyota Camry is also a safe vehicle. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) named the Camry a Top Safety Pick+, which is IIHS’s highest safety designation. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) also gave the Camry a perfect five out of five-star crash rating and four out of five-star scores on rollover and frontal crash tests.

If you’re looking for and happen to find a 2015 Toyota Camry Hybrid, you’ll also be pleased to know that that model won Kelley Blue Book’s Best Resale Value award. Still, it may be hard to find one because Camrys are perennial top sellers. As per Good Car, Bad Car, the Toyota Camry was America’s number one best-selling vehicle in 2015 and has been for multiple years.

With its reputation for affordability and reliability, it’s not hard to see why Camrys often top the nation’s best-selling vehicle list. So, if you can find one, a 2015 Toyota Camry might be your ideal daily driver.
