BANGKOK: The Hyundai RN30 concept made it’s debut at this year’s
34th Thailand International Motor Expo
.
The car was built to convey the DNA of the car with its code ‘N’, which expresses the Korean carmaker’s high performance nature of the brand.
The development focuses on the driver and weight loss technology to meet the thrill of driving.
The exterior of the RN30 is taken from a Hyundai i30 car, and has been extensively changed by lowering the 1,355mm-tall hatchback’s ride height by 84mm and adding 30mm to its current 1950mm width.
Its sheet metal has also been revised with the emphasis on airflow while driving.
The airflow over the car has also been re-looked at, particularly around the the front to the car and especially around the four wheel arches, to help ensure that all the curves are able to direct air smoothly when at high sheep – allowing for greater stability and grip.
There is also a large diffuser at the rear of the car to aid in stability and have been uniquely combined with the white ceramic exhaust system, while it rolls on lightweight 19-inch alloy wheels.
Inside, bucket seats have been installed for the front passenger and driver along with a roll-cage for added chassis rigidity and protection.
Small cameras have also been installed to provide live images while driving and can be broadcasted to entertain an audience.
The concept is powered by a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine producing 380hp and 450Nm of torque, while mated to a dual transmission that manages power delivery to the all-wheel drive system with an electronic limited-slip differential.
The Thailand International Motor Expo will be open to the public from Nov 30 to Dec 11 at Impact Arena, Muangthong Thani from 12pm to 10pm daily.
