Tesla CEO, Elon Musk has revealed in a Wall Street Journal interview that the company’s next gigafactory would be announced before the end of this year. The interview clip was shared on Twitter by Tesla enthusiast, Sawyer Merritt.
Recently, Musk has been in discussion with several leaders including those from South Korea and France. Tesla already has a plant in Europe that was opened last year. It is now producing over 5,000 Model Ys per week, the same production rate for Model Ys that Tesla’s Texas-based Gigafactory is now hitting.
There have also been rumours that Tesla’s executives have been in touch with India’s officials on scoping if there is a good fit for the electric-car maker to set up manufacturing operations there.

Earlier this year Tesla announced that it would be building its next factory in Mexico. Tesla’s other major Gigafactories are in California and Shanghai.
Tesla is on a mission to produce over 20 million cars a year by 2030. With this target in mind, many more Gigafactories will be required.

The announcement of the next Tesla factory would be welcomed by many shareholders and customers. For most of us, it just means more cleaner and affordable EVs on the roads in the coming years.
