Authorities have noted that a shooting at a Tesla Supercharger station in suburban Denver has resulted in the death of one man. Another man has been placed in custody over the event.
Videos of the incident’s aftermath were shared on social media by ABC 7 anchor Bryan Wang, who noted that a man was shot at the Edgewater Public Market parking lot by a Tesla Supercharger shortly before 10 a.m. At the time, Edgewater PD noted that the shooting happened due to an argument over one of the station’s Superchargers.

While witnesses noted that the alleged suspect later drove off, the perpetrator was later arrested by authorities. Tragically, later updates from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office indicated that the man who was shot at the Supercharger had passed away. The individual who called 911 was reportedly also the suspect who shot the man.
In a comment to the Associated Press, Jenny Fulton, a spokesperson for the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, noted that two shots were fired. The victim, a 33-year-old man, had been hospitalized with a single gunshot wound, but he later succumbed to his injuries.
While Edgewater PD told us the fight that led to the shooting was over a charging station, JCSO is saying there was a fight at the station, but what that fight was about is still being investigated. @DenverChannel

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office also later noted that while there was a fight at the station, the reason behind the conflict was still being investigated. This was quite a bit different from the comments of the Edgewater PD, which initially noted that the fight that ensued was over a Supercharger station.
The Edgewater PD later updated its stance, noting that both men were armed and that the victim approached the shooter’s vehicle when the fight occurred. Unfortunately, the Edgewater PD’s first comments about the incident being a fight over a Supercharger received polarizing reactions online.
UPDATE: After further investigation, Edgewater PD no longer believe that the fight was over a charging station. PD says both men were armed and that the victim approached the shooter’s vehicle when the fight occurred, leading up to the fatal shooting. @DenverChannel

Electric vehicle skeptics, for one, suggested that the inconvenience of EV charging would likely cause similar incidents. Other skeptics put the blame on EV advocates like Elon Musk. Some, however, pointed out that without deadly weapons, such an incident would likely have ended in a fistfight.
