Tesla Roadster reservations are open once again after the CEO and founder of the EV maker, Elon Musk, has confirmed that its production is beginning sometime in 2023.

The next-generation Tesla Roadster appears to be nearing its production date as the tech giant has officially reopened reservations for the all-electric sports car on its official website.
It is worth noting that the tech billionaire, Musk, has recently revealed that Tesla will be starting the production of the long-delayed Roadster EV by next year.
The Tesla boss confirmed it during the Cyber Rodeo event, which celebrated the grand opening of the all-new Giga Texas facility.
Tesla Roadster Reservations Open Again
But there is quite a surprising catch. The giant automaker requires those interested to get their hands on the upcoming Tesla Roadster to spend a steep $50,000. That staggering amount is to merely reserve the electric sports car.
Tesla separates the hefty fee into two, according to a news story by Teslarati.
The first credit card payment is due on the spot when attempting to reserve the Roadster. On the other hand, the remaining $45,000 should be sent via wire transfer, but it needs to be paid within ten days after ordering the next-gen Tesla EV.
Teslarati highlighted in the same report that the first $5,000 is absolutely refundable.
However, for the other hefty $45,000 wire transfer, Tesla did not say if it is fully refundable as well. That said, we are not entirely sure if the latter could be reimbursed once there have been changes in plans — unlike the initial credit card payment.
In addition to that, the Tesla website also clarified that the reservation will only be final once the wire transfer of $45,000 has already been completed.
So, it is clear that Tesla requires its customers to pay a $50,000 reservation to pre-order the next-gen Roadster.

As per a recent report by ReviewGeek, Tesla has previously killed the reservation and pricing pages of two of its upcoming EVs, the odd-shaped Cybertruck and the Roadster, in the latter part of 2021.
It is interesting to point out that the tech visionary, Musk, wants the second-gen Tesla Roadster to be one of a kind, touting it to be the fastest car the world has ever seen.
The supposedly fastest car in the world first saw the light of day in 2017 as a mere concept. Although the next-gen EV is supposed to be hit the road by 2020, Tesla has yet to release the Roaster come 2022.
However, the latest pronouncement of the Tesla founder himself, not to mention the reopening of the reservation page of the Roadster, suggests that it is nearing its release.
