Canadian buyers of new Tesla models looking to take delivery before June 30 will get either three months of three years of free fast-charging, depending on the vehicle model, thrown in as an incentive, according to a promotion posted to the automaker’s website. Tesla is hoping to clear out the country’s inventory of Model 3 sedans before the end of the quarter, and is hoping the free charging will help move cars off lots.
The incentive specifically offers up to three months of free Supercharging on Model 3 sedans; or three years of free Supercharging on more expensive Model S sedans and Model X crossovers.
“Customers who order and take delivery of a new Model S or Model X vehicle between April 20, 2023 and June 30, 2023, are eligible for unlimited three years of free Supercharging on their new vehicle,” explains a pop-up window on the “Inventory” page for the Model S on Tesla’s Canadian website. “Free Supercharging is tied to your Tesla account and cannot be transferred to another vehicle or person in case of an ownership transfer.”

Tesla investors have as of late been concerned that the automaker may have been building more vehicles than it’s been selling, according to Automotive News. However, Tesla did see assuage some of those worries when earlier this month both General Motors and Ford announced they would be adopting the carmaker’s North American Charging Standard, which would allow their customers to tap into Tesla’s massive Supercharger network.
Tesla has also repeatedly slashed prices on certain models this year, also as part of an effort to encourage sales. At the end of May, the company’s Model Y became the first EV to become the world’s best-selling vehicle, specifically for the first quarter of 2023.
