In a tragic turn of events recently, a Tesla Model X crashes and catches fire. 1 person died in this horrific accident while 3 were left injured. Tesla is the biggest EV maker in the world. It has been at the forefront of the global EV revolution since over a decade. It has established itself well in the current automobile industry and aims to expand further into the developing countries of the world. At the moment, Tesla has been selling its products in the South-East Asian markets and wants to expand in Europe next with countries like Turkey.

Tesla Model X Catches Fire
As per the latest reports, the EV was involved in a horrendous crash at around 2:30 a.m. on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood. The EV hit the lamp post and a tree after which it was set ablaze. This was what the LA Police Department informed via a social media post. Additionally, the driver was attended by a vehicle that was believed to be following the Tesla car. He suffered serious injuries and was reported to be in critical condition in the hospital.

There were three other passengers in the Tesla. The front passenger, unfortunately, succumbed to her injuries on the spot while the other two were also transported to the hospital. One of them is stable while the other was also in critical condition. The identities of the persons were not revealed by the police at the time of writing this report. The Police said, “Investigators are continuing to gather evidence, interview witnesses.”

EV Fires
The fires in the EVs are caused by the batteries burning due to any reason. This could be due to high temperatures or crashes. In any case, EV fires are much more perilous and tricky compared to fires in ICE-powered cars. This is because the materials used in the batteries act as the catalyst to keep the fire burning. It serves as a fuel which is why they are difficult to control. In some cases, these fires can remain ignited for hours or even days. However, the number of EVs catching fire is way less than ICE cars.
