Tesla’s radical EV pick-up to be phenomenal off-road as leaked video shows air suspension capability
A fresh film posted to the Cybertruck Owners Club forum has previewed the upcoming 2024 Tesla Cybertruck’s dynamic air suspension that can provide a towering ride height off-road.
The low-resolution film uploaded by user Trucky shows the Tesla Cybertruck driving into a workshop in its off-road mode, with the new dynamic air suspension in its maximum elevated position.
Tesla boss Elon Musk previously confirmed via Twitter that the dynamic air suspension system had been developed for “better off-roading” and to “kick butt in Baja” – the latter a reference to the famous off-road race along the Californian peninsula.
We’re working on increasing dynamic air suspension travel for better off-roading. Needs to kick butt in Baja.

In further tweets, Musk also claimed that the Cybertruck would be capable of floating on water.
No official details have yet been released over just how much ground clearance will be offered by the Cybertruck, but full specs should emerge later this year following the announcement that the much-delayed wedged-shaped ute would finally enter limited production in 2023 ahead of a full-scale launch in 2024.
Despite the latest video and frequent spy pics, it’s still hard to tell just how close the production version will be to the 2019 concept that featured seating for six, an enormous 17-inch infotainment screen and a yoke steering wheel.
That outlandish concept was also capable of sprinting from 0-60mph (0-97km/h) in “as little as 2.9 seconds” and featured a driving range of up to 500 miles (805km).
Questions still hang over whether the Cybertruck will comply with Australian Design Rules, and indeed if it will be produced in right-hand drive, despite Tesla previously taking orders for the ute. It stopped doing that in May last year.
It also remains to be seen whether the Cybertruck will still be priced from just $US39,900 ($A56,000).
