Tesco, which has been allowing customers to use its EV charge points for free since 2019, will now start charging from today (Tuesday, November 1).
The network, which was launched by Tesco, Volkswagen and Pod Point, will charge 28p/kWh for 7kW connections, rising to 40p for the 22kW AC and 50p for the 50kW rapid chargers. For the 50kW chargers, the cost is 50p/kWh.
Payment will have to be made through the Podpoint app for the AC chargers or by contactless for the 50kW rapid points.
Tesco says that the network has provided more than 86 million miles of free electric driving. Overall the Tesco EV charging network has saved over 12 thousand tonnes of CO2.
It also says that the new tariffs are some of the most competitive in the market and will enable the supermarket to continue investing in its network.
