MOORESVILLE, N.C. — Team Penske’s relationship with PPG as a team partner in both the NTT IndyCar Series and the NASCAR Cup Series will extend beyond 40 years, in light of a new contract extension announced on Friday.
It’s one of the longest running relationships between a team and sponsor in auto racing history.
The multi-year extension of their agreement includes Team Penske’s NASCAR and IndyCar programs.
The distinct and popular blue and white PPG paint scheme will continue in NTT IndyCar Series competition as two-time champion, Josef Newgarden, will race the No. 2 PPG Chevrolet in 2023 and into the future.
PPG will also continue to serve as an associate partner on the No. 12 Chevrolet driven by reigning NICS Champion Will Power, and the No. 3 Chevrolet driven by title contender Scott McLaughlin. Under the new agreement, PPG will return as a Team Penske partner in the NASCAR Cup Series (NCS), serving as an associate sponsor for the No. 2 Ford Mustang driven by Austin Cindric, the No. 12 Ford Mustang driven by Ryan Blaney and the 2022 Cup Series champion No. 22 Ford Mustang team with driver Joey Logano.

The Team Penske and PPG partnership began with the 1984 IndyCar Series season.
Over the last 40 years, Team Penske and PPG have visited victory lane together 12 times across IndyCar and NASCAR competition. This season, Newgarden drove the No. 2 PPG Chevrolet to victories at Texas Motor Speedway, Wisconsin’s Road America and Illinois’ World Wide Technology Raceway.
Among Newgarden’s 25 career NICS wins, five have come while racing in the PPG colors.

PPG has also maximized its partnership with Team Penske to grow its community engagement initiatives, known as the “Colorful Communities” program. Most recently, Team Penske’s IndyCar and NASCAR drivers helped support PPG’s enhancement of the Hawthorne Community Center in Indianapolis to make a positive and lasting impact in the local community.

Team Penske is one of the most successful teams in the history of professional sports.
Cars owned and prepared by Team Penske have produced more than 600 major race wins, over 670 pole positions and 43 championships across open-wheel, stock car and sports car racing competition.
Over the course of its 56-year history, the team has also earned 18 Indianapolis 500 victories, three Daytona 500 Championships, a Formula 1 win, victories in the 24 Hours of Daytona and the 12 Hours of Sebring, along with a win in Australia’s legendary Bathurst 1000 race.
In 2023, Team Penske will compete in the NTT IndyCar Series and the NASCAR Cup Series. Under a new Team Penske global partnership, Porsche Penske Motorsport will compete in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and the World Endurance Championship beginning next season.
