The sleek, stylish and swanky Mada 9 prototype sports car made its debut appearance in December 2022, the result of five years of design and development by 30 engineers at manufacturer ENTOP and Kabul’s Afghanistan Technical Vocational Institute (ATVI.)
Per the Daily Mail, all we have are appearances as exactly zero specific technical details have been shared. The one hint we do have was given by their team saying the Mada 9’s engine could be similar to a Toyota Corolla hatchback. Could it be the GR Corolla engine? Nah, but it’s fun to wonder.
The Head of ATVI Ghulam Haidar Shahamat said the Corolla engine has been modded so that ‘if you increase the speed, it’s powerful enough to take it,’ but claimed ENTOP intends to install an electric powertrain in the Mada 9 at a later date.
The Daily Mail hosts a clip with an engineer that, at the end, shows the engine being revved and the exhaust notes chiming though loudly.
Thought the project predates Taliban rule, the vehicle was unveiled by party spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid, who shared images on social media saying the construction was an ‘honour’ for the country.
Mujahid took to Twitter to say that he “would like to thank the Department of Vocational Education, under their umbrella, the country has been provided with valuable services.”

ENTOP CEO Mohammad Riza Ahmadi said he hopes this project would “convey the value of knowledge to the people and help to boost Afghanistan’s image on the world stage.”
It’ll take a lot more than a prototype supercar to do that as a horrid humanitarian crisis envelops the country.
