Hero MotoCorp has introduced the new Xoom scooter in India with prices starting at Rs 68,599 (introductory, ex-showroom). It is available in three variants: LX, VX, and ZX. Notably, the Xoom bears a sporty and unique appearance, along with modern tech. The Xoom is offered with a choice of five funky colour options: Matte Abrax Orange, Black, Pearl Silver White, Sports Red, and Polestar Blue. Further, it measures 1,881mm in length, 731mm in width, and 1,118mm in height with a wheelbase of 1,300mm.

Powering the Hero Xoom is a 110.9cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine producing 8.15PS at 7,250rpm and 8.70Nm of torque at 5,750rpm. Its direct rival, the Honda Dio, gets a 109.5cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled motor that generates 7.76PS at 8,000rpm and 9Nm of torque at 4,750rpm.
On the other hand, one of its closest rivals, the Honda Activa, is powered by a 109.5cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine making 7.84PS at 8,000rpm and 8.90Nm of torque at 5,500rpm. Whereas, the TVS Jupiter gets a 109.7cc, singlecylinder, air-cooled unit that can deliver 7.88PS at 7,500rpm and 8.8Nm of torque at 5,500rpm. All scooters come with CVT automatic transmission. Notably, the Activa 6G H-Smart is the only scooter among the four rivals to offer BS6 2.0 RDE-compliant engine.

The Xoom, Dio, Activa, and Jupiter come with telescopic front forks and a monoshock at the rear. In terms of braking hardware, the Xoom is equipped with a 190mm front disc and 130mm rear drum setup, while the Dio misses out on disc brakes and offers 130mm drum brakes at the front and rear. The Honda Activa also does not come with disc brakes. However, TVS has provided the Jupiter with a 220mm disc brake and 130mm drum brake at the front and rear, respectively.
Furthermore, the Xoom gets a set of 12-inch tyres at both ends. Similarly, the Jupiter also offers the same setup. Whereas, the Dio and Activa do not come with a 12-inch tyre setup but feature a 12-inch unit at the front and a 10-inch unit at the rear instead. On the other hand, the Xoom and Jupiter have the same 109kg kerb weight, while the Honda’s pair, the Activa H-Smart and Dio, weigh the same 105kg.

Hero has bestowed the Xoom with a lot of features, including the cornering lights. It also gets a Bluetooth-enabled fully digital readout, projector LED headlamp, LED taillamp, X-shaped LED daytime running light, and i3S system. The Dio also comes equipped with a digital console but does not offer Bluetooth connectivity. However, the scooter gets a silent engine start/stop function, engine start/stop switch, pass switch LED headlamp, and LED DRL.
The recently launched Activa H-Smart offers a smart key to remotely lock/unlock the scooter, find your vehicle function, and an anti-theft system. Moreover, the scooter also comes with silent start technology and an engine kill switch. Notably, Honda does not offer a digital dash with the Activa.
TVS has outfitted the Jupiter with an LED headlamp, a USB charging port, an IntelliGO engine start/stop system, fully digital dashboard with Bluetooth connectivity.
