BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Alexander Rossi of Arrow McLaren was the fastest driver in Sunday morning’s IndyCar warmup for Sunday’s Children’s of Alabama Indy Grand Prix at Barber Motorsports Park.
Rossi’s No. 7 Chevrolet had the best lap around the 17-turn, 2.3-mile Barber Motorsports Park at 1:06.6677 for a speed of 124.198 miles per hour.
Colton Herta of Andretti Autosport was second at 1:06.7922 (123.967 mph) in the No. 26 Gainbridge Honda.
Scott Dixon, who has nine podium finishes and six second-place finishes in 12 IndyCar events at Barber Motorsports Park but has never won this race, was third at 1:06.8538 (123.852 mph) in the No. 9 PNC Bank Honda.
Kyle Kirkwood, who won the previous NTT IndyCar Series race in the April 16 Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach, was fourth at 1:06.9723 (123.633 mph) n the NO. 27 AutoNation Honda.
Three-time Barber Motorsports Park winner Josef Newgarden of Team Penske was fifth at 1:07.0124 (123.559 mph) in the No. 2 PPG Chevrolet for Team Penske.
There were no incidents in the 30-minute session with 610 total laps.
Sunday’s Children’s of Alabama Indy Grand Prix is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Eastern Time with the NBC broadcast set for 3 p.m. ET.
