The driver in the viral road bully video has been released on police bail. The driver was previously remanded by the police on Monday (2-May-2022).
Selangor Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) chief Azman Shari’at told Kosmo that the driver was released after giving his statement on Wednesday (4-May-2022).
The 43-year-old driver was caught on camera driving dangerously, wrongly using the emergency lane, and even bullying other road users along the Kuala Lumpur-Karak Highway. The video went viral on Sunday prompting police to open an investigation on the incident.
Azman said that further investigation was being carried out by the police before the investigation paper was submitted to the deputy public prosecutor for further action.
The driver was previously tested negative for both alcohol and drugs. The case is investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving.
If found guilty, the driver could face a jail sentence of up to 5 years and a fine of RM 5,000 to RM 15,000.
