Who knew Honda’s 160cc scooter could make for such an EPIC ADV?
Even though Honda’s main focus for India is commuter scooters, the company has an extensive scooter lineup abroad comprising sporty, performance, and even adventure offerings.
And one such scooter is the recently updated Vario 160, a direct rival to the Yamaha Aerox 155. Owing to the Vario’s popularity in Southeast Asian markets, Julak Sendie Design has reimagined it as an ADV scooter, taking heavy inspiration from the company’s flagship ADV motorcycle, the Africa Twin.
Honda Vario 160 Adventure Scooter Render
For the render, the key design aspects of the Vario 160, like the radical headlight, stepped seat, and edgy side panels, have all been left as is.
Using this base, the artist has swapped the telescopic forks with chunky golden USD units and the stock alloy wheels with a set of golden spoke wheels.
The highlight here, though, is the striking tricolor livery, which is a direct borrow from the Africa Twin. Just like the ADV bike, the livery looks smashing on the Vario 160’s ADV iteration too.

For the final touches, you get handguards, a big pannier, and twin disc brakes at the front, all making the scooter more purposeful. I, personally, would’ve preferred white handguards, though.
While this is an epic render, the artist went on to create a Forza 150-inspired Vario 160 too. Like the previous one, this also features USD forks, twin discs, and spoke wheels, but comes wrapped in a red/black livery, similar to the Forza 150’s red color.
The second render looks quite sporty and Honda should surely offer it as an option for the Vario in the future. Sure, I’d like to see the Africa Twin livery too, but that’s a pretty long shot.
Honda Vario 160 Details
The renders retain the sporty all-LED headlight
Renders aside, the Honda Vario 160 is a pretty capable scooter as is. Along with its sporty design, the scooter comes laden with truckloads of features like keyless ignition, USB charging, and all-LED lighting, all topped off by an information-rich digital instrument cluster.
With all this, the scooter is also priced quite well. Swipe up to know more about it.
Underneath, the scooter is built around an underbone chassis, housing its 160cc, single-cylinder mill which puts out an impressive 15.3PS and 13.8Nm. This brings it neck-and-neck with its arch-rival, the Yamaha Aerox 155.
Meanwhile, the scooter employs telescopic forks and a monoshock for suspension duties while rolling on 100/80-14 and 120/70-14 tires (front and rear).
Honda Vario 160 Price
Coming to the real deal, the Vario 160 draws power from a 160cc engine putting out over 15PS
Honda sells the Vario in two variants: CBS and ABS, priced at IDR 25,800,000 (around Rs 1.37 lakh) and IDR 28,500,000 (around Rs 1.48 lakh), respectively.
Both variants are offered in three paint schemes: Active Black, Grande Matte Black, and Grande Matte Red for the CBS variant and Active Black, Grande Matte Black, and Grande White for the ABS variant. The latter also gets a ‘burnt titanium’ finish on its alloy wheels.
The Vario 160 is not expected to set foot in India anytime soon, but if you’re looking for a sporty 160cc scooter, you should take a look at the Yamaha Aerox 155.
