Aussie company aims to reduce plastic waste with dissolvable cleaning tablet
IT IS hard to believe that Australians send more than a tonne of plastic to landfill every minute of every day.
Significantly contributing to that figure are the dozens of single-use car cleaning product containers disposed of by dealerships and detailing centres across the country, which are often non-recyclable because of residual product contamination.
Now, Australian company Solvables has devised a unique take on, err, solving the problem.
Solvables has created a range of water-soluble tablets – much like a dishwasher tablet – that it says are non-toxic, highly effective, environmentally friendly and pH neutral.
It currently offers three different formulations for glass, interiors, and wheels, with more prodcuts in the pipeline. All Solvables formulas are said to eliminate grease and grime without the need for toxic chemicals.
“Our clever and economical approach to product packaging means fewer plastic bottle are going to landfill,” said Solvables national business manager, Callan Gates.
“This is the only automotive cleaning product on the market where you don’t need to purchase plastic bottle after plastic bottle. We’ve solved this problem with our cleaning tablet range and reusable 500ml bottles made from 100 per cent recycled plastic.
“Single-use plastic bottles are contributing to landfill and creating unnecessary clutter in the cupboards they’re inhabiting. We’ve managed to sort both these issues, and because Solvables are pH neutral, they won’t cause damage to vehicles or the environment.”
Each soluble tablet is mixed with water to create the required cleaning product.
Mr Gates said the Australian-made products are currently available for a variety of surfaces including hard and soft plastics, glass and mirrors, and high-gloss finishes with each tablet producing 500ml of product for less than five dollars.
“We’re excited to launch our all-new range of Solvables cleaning products. They are easy to use, super effective and they’re Australian made. There’s more to come, with expansions to the range already on the horizon, so keep an eye out,” he said.
