The models eligible for the program are those produced between 2012 and 2016.
Toyota Motor Corporation has announced the “86 Refresh Service” – a program to restore the first-generation 86 through five courses. The program is offered in Japan only (for now). However, it is good to see that Toyota is still looking out for owners of the older iteration, particularly models produced between 2012 and 2016.
The first course is the engine refresh, which, as the name suggests, cleans the inside of the 86's 2.0-liter naturally-aspirated engine. This engine has been replaced with a larger 2.4-liter engine in the GR86 generation to deliver more horsepower. Ignition parts will also be replaced. Consequently, the course aims to improve throttle response.

The second course looks to replace rubbers for engine and transmission mounts to reduce vibration and enhance gear shifting. Listed as the third course is the Suspension Rubber Bush Refresh Course, which aims to improve cornering by replacing rubber bushings with new ones.
Moving to the fourth course, the program will replace shock absorbers to bolster ride comfort. And the fifth and last course is dedicated to the brakes. This course will see the replacement of parts of the braking system to not only improve braking performance but also reduce noise and vibration.

Here is the list of prices for every course under the 86 Refresh Program:
• First Course – 121,000 yen ($872)
• Second Course – 99,000 yen ($714)
• Third Course – 122,100 yen ($880)
• Fourth Course – 163,900 yen ($1,182)
• Fifth Course – 125,400 yen ($904)
As of this writing, the program is available at some GR Garage stores in Tokyo, Osaka, Aichi, and Shizuoka.
Toyota didn't mention any plans to expand outside of the Land of the Rising Sun or if the current GR86 will be added to the program in the future. With the latest generation getting engine failures here and there, it sure can benefit from some engine work.
