Three women from Montreal face charges after OPP officers stopped three stolen pickup trucks on a highway in eastern Ontario on Tuesday.
OPP says officers have now recovered five stolen vehicles in the area of Grenville County — east of Kingston — over the last two weeks.
“Over the past several months, thieves have been targeting newer, high-end pickup trucks and SUV’s from Greater Toronto and surrounding areas,” police said in a statement released Wednesday.
The first pickup truck stopped on Tuesday was spotted travelling “at high speeds” along Hwy. 401, passing Brockville, at around 8 a.m.

“Officers located it as it continued past the Johnstown exit in Edwardsburgh-Cardinal Twp. and conducted a rolling block to safely stop the pickup truck and arrest the driver,” the OPP said. “Officers continued to patrol the highway and located two further vehicles reported stolen, initiating two more prompt rolling blocks.”

Police said nobody was injured in the vehicle stops and the pickups were not damaged.
Three women — ages 18, 19 and 23 — from Montreal were arrested and charged with trafficking in stolen goods over $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and possessing an automobile master key.
All three accused, whose identities were not revealed, were released and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brockville at a later date.
