Motor Group is preparing for a driverless future with its new gadget for electric vehicles (EV) known as the Auto Charging Robot, or ACR for short. As the world is gearing towards autonomous cars, AKA driverless cars, Hyundai's ACR unmanned chargers are the last step to the whole driverless picture for EVs.
ACR consists of a flexible robotic arm that uses AI technology to detect the EV’s charging port and plugs itself into the port to begin charging. The charger will even disconnect itself once it is done.
This will mean that the driver does not need to touch the charger after parking the car. All they need is an app to order it to commence charging. Hyundai’s video even claimed that the ACR is foolproof for those who are bad at parking.
Other than that, the ACR is also water and dustproof so the robotic arm can be installed even outdoor. Plus, Hyundai has specifically designed it so it works with any charger brand and is not limited to just charger ports from Hyundai.
