Mumbai-based EV manufacturer Odysse has launched the all-new Vader electric motorcycle in India. Prices for the Odysse Vader start at Rs 1.09 lakh (ex-showroom, Ahmedabad – inclusive of FAME II & state subsidy).
For the rest of India, the Odysse Vader is priced at Rs 1.29 lakh (ex-showroom including FAME II & state subsidies). Bookings for the Odysse Vader are now open for just Rs 999 and deliveries are set to commence in July.
The Odysse Vader is powered by a hub motor that delivers a nominal output of 4.02bhp (3kW) which rises to a peak output of 6.03bhp (4.5kW). The peak wheel torque output of the Odysse is rated at 170Nm.
The Vader’s electric motor draws power from an IP67-rated 3.7kWh lithium-ion (NMC) battery pack. The Odysse Vader’s battery pack takes 4 hours to go from 0 to 100 per cent charge.
The electric Vader offers up three riding modes – Eco, Drive & Sports. In Eco mode, the Vader delivers a range of 125 kilometres which drops to 100km in Drive. The most powerful Sports mode only offers up a 90km. With Sports mode engaged, the Odysse Vader is able to hit its top speed of 85km/h.
Suspension duties on the all-new Odysee Vader are handled by a telescopic front fork and dual spring-loaded shocks at the rear that help the 128kg (kerb weight) electric bike take care of the rough stuff.
Braking duties are carried out by disc brakes at both ends. The Vader’s front wheel sports a 240mm disc while the rear features a smaller 220mm unit. The Odysse Vader rides on 17-inch alloy wheels that are shod with 90/90-17 (front) and 140/70 (rear) tyres.
Other features include a 7-inch display that is rated IP67 for dust and water resistance. The Android-powered display has a max brightness of 1,000 nits and offers up Bluetooth connectivity and multiple themes.
The screen also connects up with the Odysse EV app on your phone which comes with connectivity features like bike locator, geofencing, immobilization, anti-theft, track & trace, and low battery Alert among many others. Other features on the Vader include Google Maps navigation, 18 litres of storage space, LED lighting, and regenerative braking.
Thoughts About The Odysse Vader
The Odysse Vader is yet another new electric commuter motorcycle in the Indian market that is looking to bring more people into the EV space. How it actually performs in the real world is something we’ll only be able to tell you once we get to ride the new Vader, which we hope is rather soon.
